Dear Club Secretaries & Race Organisers,
This year saw yet another record number of races on our calendar. In 2012, to continue to ensure the safety and fairness at all races, it will be important for us to appoint 2 Technical Officials (TOs) at the start of the race season. To do this, we will work closely with our clubs, to draw on the experience and knowledge, of both current and former triathletes, who would be able to help out.
Over the coming week, we would appreciate if you could please let us know which of your club members will be available officiate in 2012 and if you could please ask them to attend one of the training courses. Details of these courses can be found below.
Training Courses for Technical Officials
We are running full and refresher training courses free of charge from February to April 2012, and would like to see all TOs attend the training.
For anyone who attended one of our training sessions earlier this year, then they may like to attend the refresher course, however, they are more than welcome to attend the full course.
These courses will be held in Dublin, Antrim, Galway, Limerick, Cork and Killarney. Further details of these courses, how to book etc, can befound here.
Please note that the courses listed in the above link are the only TO courses being run in 2012.
Club Training Courses
We have been working with some Triathlon Clubs to hold a training course in their area. If your club, or a group of clubs, can get together 20 or more people to attend a course, send an email to amanda@triathlonireland.com and we will do our best to arrange one in your area.
Incentives for TOs
To incentivise Technical Officials in 2012, we will continue to pay a rate of €50 plus mileage to every Technical Official for the race they officiate at –click here for further details of these claims. In addition to these rates, we may look into the possibility of arranging guaranteed race entry into some events in 2013 for Technical Officials who officiate at a large number of races. As an example, after reviewing the races that Technical Officials officiated at in 2011, it was clear that a small number of Technical Officials officiated at a large number of TI sanctioned races in 2011, and as a token of our appreciation, we have arranged a guaranteed race entry for them in a number of races in 2012 that have traditionally been difficult to enter.
We look forward to working with all our clubs in 2012 to continue to run safe, fair and fun races.
Kind regards,Amanda Mannix
