All,
Please post your questions here and we'll answer as quickly and honestly as we can!
Q: What is the route and distance each day?
A: Mizen To Limerick is 200km via Mallow. This is using main roads. Our hotel is north of Limerick so expect to add on another 10km.
Limerick to Cavan via Athlone is 195km
Cavan via omagh and derry to Malin is 177km. Expect another 15km to Malin Head...and about 20km return to the hotel.
This is the route on Google maps using secondary roads so expect hilly terrain.
The full routes will be finalised shortly.
Q: How will we know the routes to take?
A: we will provide laminated maps for detailing the route for each trip. The intention is to provide about 20 maps. We are travelling in groups of three with competent group leaders so their shouldn't be any problems with directions. ( !!)
Q: Should I bring rain clothing?
A: Absolutely!. Rain proof jacket is a necessity. Rain leggings are a personal choice but I find them bulky. The support cars will be at the lunch stops so you have an option to change clothing. You should wear clothing you use on your training sessions. Avoid new cycling shoes and new cleats.
Q: How many support cars are there and what are their functions.
A: There is a van and a car for support. Their main responsibilty is to ensure safety. If a cyclist gets injured or tired support will be phone call away. The van will transport our bags between destinations so you will not need to bring baggage while cycling.
Q: Nitrition. What should i bring?
A: Energy gels are recommended. Energy drinks are essential e.g. High5. We will try to provide gels but please bring your own supplies. Two water bottles; fruit; energy bars..etc. Exactly what you use on your training spins.
Q: Equipment?
A: Again what you use on training trips. Spare tubes, pump, etc..
The support cars will have track pumps and spare tyres.
Bikes must be road worthy. Please service your bikes before undertaking the cycle. Bikes will be inspected before we leave on Thursday.
I'll post more Q&A's. Please respond to this link if you are any more queries.
