Time to take out the bike and dust down the shorts… the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour is back! Date for your diary – Sunday July 29th, cancel all other appointments you’ll be on your bike that day!
Please note registration is now open for this year’s An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour – check out www.meathsports.ie for further details. This year’s tour offers 4 different distances to choose from:
11km Family Spin – a flat route that is suitable for all the family. Children under the age of 12yrs must be accompanied by an adult and possess some level of cycling experience.
50km Tara Loop – this popular route has in parts been reversed in direction and includes an additional 10km. It is a relatively flat route with a moderate climb to the Hill of Tara.
100km Royal Tour – whilst the flatter aspects of the route remain the same, it does include some changes on last year’s distance. Participants would need a good level of cycling fitness.
160km Royal Challenge – this new route for 2012 brings cyclists to the east of the county and sees the introduction of Sliabh Breagh (known locally as Downeys Mountain). The route remains tough and challenging and is not for the faint hearted – cut off time applies.
All cyclists on the 50km, 100km and 160km tours will receive a specially commissioned jersey (must have collector’s item!).
Please note: there will be no facility to register on the weekend of the tour for the 50km, 100km and 160km events. Entry for the 11km Family Spin is only available on the 29th – online entry for all other 3 events closes at midnight on the 25th (early bird entry fees applies up until 19th July).
Nominated charity for this year’s tour is the Meath Alzheimer Group.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on the day – all queries to 046 9067337.
