The Tour of Inishowen will take place on Sunday 1st July starting in Buncrana,Co.Donegal. There is a choice of 3 routes. 160km.long course.This takes in all of the towns and villages in the peninsula,travelling in an anti-clockwise direction around the coastline of Inishowen.There are some challenging climbs,including Cook's Hill at Greencastle and Mamore Gap at Clonmany.These are regarded as being among the toughest cycling climbs in Ireland. There are also a number of Category 2 climbs at Malin Head,so bring your climbing wheels. 2. 100km.moderate course.This option excludes all of the above climbs but will still require a good level of fitness to negotiate the numerous Cat 3 climbs on the course. 3. 70km.short course.This option will be for the novice cyclist who just wants a nice day out.The pace will be slow,relaxed and enjoyable. North Pole Cycling Club will have a team of marshals and stewards which will ensure that the event is both safe and pleasurable. There will be service vehicles in front and behind each group and waterstops at key points on the route. All routes will be interrupted with a food stop between 11am and 1pm at the Village Hall in the picturesque village of Culdaff. There will be showers and food at the finish in Buncrana Leisure Centre. We can promise you a real Donegal welcome and an interesting cycling experience.
