Hello all in the cycling community in Ireland,
I would like to draw your attention to the Irish Sports Summit 2012 and make the little request, that you might post information regarding it, (below bottom), on the Events/News section of your website and perhaps forward it along to your many Members.
The Summit is being organised by SpóirtFest a nonprofit, volunteer led group, who wish to create positive outlets for the Irish Sporting community, through our sports festival and the Summit. We set out to see if we could gather together just a few interesting speakers, but we soon were overwhelmed by the response from throughout the sporting community. So we have endeavoured to cram as many of the excellent speakers in as we could and we believe we have an incredible line up for our inaugural Summit. And in the years to come we hope to rotate our line up to include directly all aspects of Irish sport.
The Summit on the 25th of May, to be opened by Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Simon Coveney TD, will focus on the funding and economic issues afflicting all throughout the Irish sporting world, but in particular will identify and discuss paths towards sustainability and growth. It is a must attend event for all who have financial responsibilities in sport or rely on it for their livelihood, from small local Clubs to big international brands. But we hope to send everyone away, with very positive mindsets and ideas about the track ahead.
It is a real sporting good news story. The goodwill in evidence so far gives great testimony to the fact the sporting community are willing to work together through these difficult times. Any monies raised from the Summit will go towards the operation of SpóirtFest II, taking place from the 24-26th August, carrying on the success of the first festival in 2011, which featured over 15 sports.
So as I mentioned it would be great if you could share the news about the Summit throughout your organisation, and I very much hope we get to meet you there.
Yours in Sport
James O'Reilly
Chairman SpóirtFest
