SWIMFEST 2012
Swim Round Ireland Relay 1310km
Dates: April 28-29th
Saturday 28th: Consecutive relay in swimming pool of Four Seasons Hotel beginning at 9am. This is a sponsored swim and all participants will be asked to collect sponsorship for the amount of metres they pledge to swim in the pool. All participants will be allocated a time slot for the pool based upon ability and distance they wish to swim. There will be volunteers present to count lengths. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate whether they can swim 1 length or 100, walking lengths of the pool is acceptable and all who are non-swimmers will be encouraged to participate in this fashion. Refreshments will be provided for all swimmers.
Sunday 29th: 10km relay open water swim. This event is for teams entry fee is €100 per team. Wetsuits are compulsory and only experienced open water swimmers are encouraged to participate. There is no limit to the amount of people on a relay team. The relay will be around a 750 metre course starting and finishing at the slipway of the Carlingford Sailing Club. There will be safety boats and kayaks monitoring the progress of the swimmers. The Red Cross will be on site to attend to all first aid matters. There are hot showers available to all swimmers as well as tea coffee and sandwiches. There will be a disclaimer waiver to be signed by all swimmers and this event will be run only if weather and conditions are favourable.
Pre-registration for this event preferable by phoning 086 3983403 or on the day by 2pm sharp. Relay will begin at 3pm sharp.
All proceeds from these events will be donated to Crosscause Charity and North Louth Hospice.
