Hi all,
In 2010, forty amateur cyclists dusted off their saddles, pulled on their leggings and undertook a fun packed, two day excursion from Dublin to Galway, raising €40,000 for the Soul of Haiti Foundation in the process.
When plans were made for a repeat event the following year, more than three times the amount of participants jumped at the opportunity to Cycle4Haiti, this time managing to raise a fantastic €126,000.
This year we’ve upped the ante again and are aiming to take 500 cyclists from three starting points around Ireland; Dublin, Sligo and Cashel. The three pelotons will converge in Athlone on the 5th of May where we hope at least some of the group will get a few hours sleep. The following morning, all 500 participants will set off together and a few hours later, cruise into Eyre Square in time for a night of celebration in Galway.
The club cyclists who joined in the event last year as leaders, marshals and participants did a great job to infect the rest of the group with their enthusiasm for the sport and definitely added to the fun of the weekend, it would be great to have a few more club members on board this year. For this reason we’re asking if you can spread the word within your club and direct your members towards our website cycle4haiti.com/. Alternativly you can download and print this poster for your club.
Registration is open to all and there will be a number of training and group fundraising events organised prior to the big weekend. The goal this year is to raise between €300,000 and €400,000 to dramatically boost the amount of work that can be done by the Soul of Haiti Foundation. If you any questions, don’t hesitate to contact aoife@cycle4haiti.com
Looking forward to speaking with you,
The Cycle4Haiti Team.
