Hi there,
after the success of the Cycling Leinster Women’s Squad in road racing over the past couple of years, we’re looking to grow the programme and interest in it next year. The programme has helped numerous riders develop and improve, right through to national level. Last year the Leinster team targeted a number of key races, with the highlight of the year for many being the super performance by the team at Ras na mBan in September. Building on the programme’s success, in helping riders improve with training and coaching, the 2012 programme is starting up now, and we’re looking for female riders! Being involved in the programme will involve working with myself and coach Frank O’Leary, who will devise training programmes and help riders target key races. Selection for races will be based on performances, results and future potential. While there is no upper age limit, riders must feel they have the potential to improve further. There is no cost to the riders, as coaching etc is covered by Cycling Leinster funding.
We are starting the winter training programme in the coming days, and will have our first meet up in the coming weeks. If there are any female members in your club who you think would benefit from a dedicated training programme, please put them in contact with me. Thanks,
