Hi All
Please see the below message from Geoff Liffey (CEO) regarding a new way to advertise your events, with Get Active Ireland.
“Over the past year Cycling Ireland has being working with the Health Service Executive (HSE) on development of a one stop shop for physical activity. As a result the www.getirelandactive.ie website has recently been redeveloped. The website is designed to encourage people to become more active by:
creating awareness of the range of activities and opportunities for physical activity that exist locally, regionally and nationally; and
providing advice on how to get started, tips on how to get more active and motivation to keep them going.
For event organisers and local community groups, the website provides a unique opportunity to promote their activities to an online audience. There is no cost for use of the site and you can provide details on any events that are open to the public including training, events and races. Already there are over 8,000 events on the site and there an online advertising campaign is planned for the month of October to promote the site even further.
Cycling Ireland plans to promote the 2012 Leisure events through this website. For the local club events, we appreciate not all of these are suitable for people of varying ability to casually turn up at, it may provide an opportunity for you to advertise an open training day or fun run event in the next few months. Cycling Ireland will provide one off guest insurance cover for a single day event, so long as non members details are recorded on a sign-on sheet. “
The event registration is fairly simple and all events will be moderated and approved by the local sports partnership in each county. To post your events you can simply click on ‘Submit Event’ on the home page and post your details. The website will be officially launched next week on October the 5th so while we approaching the off season for many clubs, if there are any local events that you are happy to advertise/promote please register these details.”
