Dear Cycle Enthusiasts As you know we had to cancel our fundraiser at Christmas due to inclement weather. However we are continuing in our quest to ensure that a modern and progressive approach to undergrounding transmission lines occurs in Meath, Cavan and Monaghan and to this end NEPP will continue to strengthen its resources and support for its objectives with the rescheduled ‘Great North East Cycling Challenge’, to be held on Sunday, April 10th, 2011 Registration is available on www.nepp.ie/wordpress/?page_id=10 and promotional material will soon be available to download from there also. We would appreciate if you would add to your calendar of events this date as a large number of participants is needed to make this cycle a success. The Great North East Cycle will run from Batterstown in Meath, through Cavan and into Monaghan, with Kells as a hub location. The event will accommodate all ages and groups, from families who want to just do a short spin, to the cycling enthusiasts who plan on a 100km challenge. There will be a host of stopover points and celebrity participants. The cycling route will pass through many of the villages and rural communities potentially affected by EirGrid’s plans for erecting massive pylons in the North-East. We also plan that it will be a great day for families and local communities”, stated Aimée Treacy, chairperson for NEPP. I would appreciate if you could circulate this information amongst your club members. For any further queries please contact myself on 085 2811285. Best wishes, Roisin Norman
