Calling all athletes & runners!! Are you 1 in 1000?
Thought about running in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon? – Not sure which charity to run with?
The CFAI is looking for 1000 enthusiastic runners for the Flora Women's Marathon for better CF services in Ireland. This is a key fundraising event of the CFAI Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland linked to the Flora women's Mini Marathon which takes place in Dublin on Monday 6th June 2011.
Our 1 in 1000 campaign encourages women to run in teams of up to 10 members, and our aim is for each participant to raise €200 in sponsorship. Last year 1000 runners raised €200,000, all of which went towards 4 dedicated isolation beds in Crumlin Children's Hospital which will be opening in March 2011.
This year, 2011, all monies raised in sponsorship for 1 in 1000 in the Mini-Marathon will go towards a new support programme for parents whose child has been recently diagnosed with CF, and towards the further development of isolation beds in CF centres nationwide.
We realise however that you may not wish to be part of a team, and that likewise you may not be able to raise that much sponsorship, but we still consider you to be 1 in 1000 and any sponsorship you raise and donate to CFAI is much appreciated. Every cent that you raise will go towards the programmes described above.
This year, entries for the Women’s Mini-Marathon open on March 2nd 2011.
To participate follow the following 2 easy steps:
1. Register for the Flora Women's Mini Marathon when entries open on March 2nd www.florawomensminimarathon.ie. Please register as soon as possible on or after this date, as last year registration was over-subscribed well in advance of the closing date!
2. Send in details of your race registration number to runningforcf@cfireland.ie and we will provide you with a T shirt, sponsorship cards, details of a Hotel to leave your clothes/prepare for the race. A 'goody bag' of sponsored gifts will be provided on the day of the race.
Each participant raising €200 and over, who returns sponsorship before June 20 will be entered in a draw for some super prizes. Last year prizes included meals in top restaurants, Hotel B&B breaks, and skincare hampers.
If you are electing to be team leader for 1 in 1000, please let us know how many members you have on your team (it may just be one other person!) and their names.
In order to send you out a sponsorship pack we need your full address, and if possible your mobile number also.
