Operation Transformation – National Walk
The fourth series of Operation Transformation was screened at 8pm on the 5th January on RTE 1 and will run for seven weeks. Operation Transformation has teamed up with the Irish Sports Council and the Local Sports Partnerships to organise a number of national events. The Operation Transformation National Walk takes place this Saturday 15th January 2011. Louth Local Sports Partnership has organised a walk in Blackrock along the Slí the Slainte route. The walk starts at 11am leaving from the sundial at Main Street, Blackrock and follows the 4km Slí na Sláinte route.
We would like to thank Slí na Sláinte trained walking leader, Stephen Cull who is generously giving his time to lead this walk. We welcome all ages and abilities along on the day and particularly would like to see families getting involved. The event is ideal for beginners to come out and give it a go.
There will be similar events running around the country culminating in a 5km fun run in the Phoenix Park on the 19th February 2011.
Slí na Sláinte stands for 'path to health'. Developed by the Irish Heart Foundation, the routes are marked by bright colourful signposts and are situated at 1 km intervals, you'll find Slí na Sláinte walk routes all over Ireland. Simply follow the Km signs, set your pace to suit your enjoyment and you'll quickly fell better and get fitter. You will also experience a great sense of achievement.
