League Race, June 5th 2012
Tuesday night's League Race will be two modified laps of the Bellurgan NPS course. (2 x ~3.5km = ~7km total)
The start/finish will be the same as last week - at the top car park. From there we'll take the same route as last week up to the course. The rest of the lap is as usual until just after the rock garden, where we'll cut across the path at the NPS junction. Then when we exit after the jump and berms, we'll turn left and do it all again! The Laurel sections at the start are being omitted.

Louth MTB Champs, Tuesday 17th June
The race will be 2 laps of the Full course - bypassing the laurels on the first lap (to split up the field) and using the laurels on the 2nd lap. It will be a mass start - so ALL riders off at 7pm
Sign on in VanHalla from 6:30
Start / Finish will be at VanHalla and all riders must go past Start / Finish to record 1st lap i.e. Dont proceed directly through arch at end of 1st lap - please return via VanHalla.
Tuesday's race is not an XC League race. We will add a race on to end of calendar to maintain a total of 12 point awarding races.
Please remember that this race is open to anyone residing in County Louth or competing for a Louth based club. Medals will be awarded to the first 3 male and female finishers. All competitors must be over 16 and hold a current Cycling Ireland licence.

In case anyone isn't on facebook, tonight's mtb league will be this (counter clockwise): connect.garmin.com/activity/87818405From Chris: "I think that we'll use one of the laps from the Wooden Gate. We'll start at the gate and go counter-clockwise around The Castle. So, you'll go away from the gate around the single track. When you meet the top of the Grassy Slope, you'll go left and up a sharp grassy climb. Then before you climb up The Castle, go right and head around the RHS of it, follow the trail which veers left and come down the Stinger - a loose gravelly descent and back to the Gate. Then do it again!!" I'll be at the lumpers at 6.30 for anyone who doesn't know the way. Group 1 starts from wooden gate at 7.

Round 7 - June 26th, 2012
The course tonight will be two laps of The Castle in reverse to the way that it would normally be ridden. The terrain is mostly undulating grassy single track with one short notable climb half way through the lap where the climbers will make some ground. Then the lap is finished off with a fast, slightly technical gravel descent for those who prefer to let fly on the downhill sections.
We'll start at the wooden gate, and for those who don't know where that is, it's just shy of 3km from the Lumpers Pub carpark up the fire road on the mountain.
If everyone can meet in the carpark and make their way up for a start as close to 7pm as possible, then we won't have to hang around on the mountain for too long. It's a 15-20 min climb up.
Remember that these are public trails so if you meet anybody walking, please treat them with respect and allow yourself plenty of space to go around them!

League Race July 3, 2012.
This week’s league race will be back in Bellurgan for 3 laps of the U-14 course – a repeat of Round 4 of the League. Again, we’ll aim to start Group 1 from the top car park at 7pm so as to get everyone out and back in again before darkness takes over the forest! With only 5 rounds remaining, the racing will be getting closer and we hope to see a few changes in the leader board layout! There is no definite winner yet – no matter what anyone thinks! It’s time to push through the pain barrier and bank some points – will the Cuchulainn League rookies continue to gather the points or was Fergus’ win last week a statement of intent from the group of guys who’ve seen it all before?!
Time will tell….

We've finally reached Round 12, the last round of the 2012 MTB League.
The race will be held 'at home' in Bellurgan Park on Tuesday, July 31st. It will be a re-run of Round 2; two laps of the full course. It's 11.5km, and a fitting finish to the 2012 League - it won't be easy and some folk will have scores to settle out there.
With the Bull Raid coming up just a few days later, it should also help to prepare the main trail and get the course ship-shape to showcase it to our visitors at the weekend!
If anybody who is eligible to race in the league and hasn't raced up to now is reading this, then come along and join in - even if just for 1 lap! It'll give you an indication of what the racing is like and might entice you in for next year!
